Rebecca Fly was recently named Action Auto's 2022 Collector of the Year.
She started at Action Auto in 2016 in the collections department, where she was tasked with gathering the monthly payments for all of our customers. From there, Rebecca was promoted to the Legal Representative position she holds with Action Auto today. In this role, she oversees Action Auto's legal department, handling garnishments and a plethora of other tasks. Despite this, Rebecca is still heavily involved in helping our collections team with anything they need.
"One thing Rebecca really stands out with is helping out our collections team, keeping them on track and assisting them with anything they need," said Crystal Elliott, Sales Director for Action Auto. "There are times where she will help out even before getting to her own work for the day. She is the definition of a team player."
As reflected by this well-deserved honor, Rebecca remains a core component of our collections process and often offers advice to the collections team.
"The best advice I can give is to work hard and believe in your company," Rebecca said. "This is a very family-oriented place. When I started here, I wanted to work at a place that felt like a family. I feel like I can go to anyone here to help me with anything I need."
She has years of experience working with our customers to ensure they remain on track with monthly payments. Rebecca enjoys the team-oriented atmosphere of Action Auto, takes pride in helping out in any capacity she can to ensure everyone is successful and enjoys working to meet and exceed her monthly goals.
"I love working here. It is a team-first environment. We help everyone out here to do what we need to do to be successful," Rebecca said. ""I always try to learn more. I can always learn more to be better at my job."
Congratulations to Rebecca on this well-deserved achievement.
From the first day Action Auto Florence opened its doors in July of 2021, Lot Manager Stephen Larrimore was determined to see the location succeed at the highest level.
After recently being named 2022 Salesperson of the Year, Larrimore feels a sense of pride in seeing it come to fruition.
"I remember right after I got hired, we had a managers meeting, and I told them that we were going to bring this trophy to Alabama, despite us being a new location and in our first year," Larrimore said. "I have been selling for a long time and take great pride in it. It takes the whole lot, though. Not just me. It's a team effort to be able to achieve this after just one full year in business."
Stephen joined Action Auto in August of 2021 and was instrumental in helping open both our Florence and Decatur locations. He manages his Action Auto Florence staff with a team-first mentality, one that is rooted in doing whatever it takes to help customers find a vehicle they can afford
"We work hard every day to assist customers in finding the right vehicle. We are providing them something they need," Stephen said. "I do everything I can to help everyone on our team. I think everyone shares that attitude and that approach. We need everyone here to succeed in order for our lot to be successful."
Stephen had several years of experience in auto sales before joining Action Auto and says he finds great satisfaction in the buy here, pay here space because he is helping customers, who might not be able to purchase a vehicle elsewhere, acquire a reliable source of transportation within their budget.
"It's helping people that I couldn't otherwise help. Here, we can help people get a car when they have been told no elsewhere," Steven said. "Here in Florence, we don't have a lot of public transportation, and a lot of the community is relying on friends and relatives for rides," Stephen said. "When you have kids and things to do, that is tough. But we are here to help them get a car they can afford."
Stephen believes in empowering his staff, trusting them to do their job and making it known that everyone's role is equally invaluable in the overall success of the lot.
"We are a team. It takes everyone on the team to meet our goals. When we do, everyone will be rewarded."
"You have to trust the people you work with. That is a big thing for us. We trust everyone to do their jobs and we know that everyone's role is a valuable part to the team's success."
Congratulations to Stephen and the entire staff at the Action Auto Florence location on this achievement.
Although Scott Gomez only started selling cars a little over three years ago, he has quickly emerged as one of Action Auto’s top salespeople and excelled in his work at the company’s Tupelo, Miss., location.
Before joining Action Auto, Gomez had a long career in the restaurant industry. As a cook and bartender, he made connections across his hometown of Tupelo and developed a passion for serving customers well.
“My favorite part about my job is seeing people’s reactions when I can get them approved and into a good vehicle,” he said. “It’s a good feeling when you can help someone out.”
Last year, Gomez was Action Auto’s second highest performing salesperson across all lots, getting more than 200 customers into new vehicles.
“When I became a part of the sales division at Action Auto, one of my favorite people to coach was Scott,” said Crystal Elliott, Action Auto's operations director. “He took the time to learn and use any tips or advice given with a phenomenal attitude. Scott is always willing to lend a hand wherever needed within the company. Whether that be serving at another location or leading our sales call. I appreciate the positive attitude Scotts puts forth every day!”
Born and raised in Tupelo, Gomez has deep roots in the area and said he loves serving his hometown. He graduated from Tupelo High School, then Itawamba Community College.
Since Gomez knows so many people around the city, he loves getting out and spreading the word about Action Auto to people in need of a vehicle. Along with the rest of the team, he attends events put on by Tupelo Parks & Recreation to pass out business cards and flyers for the company.
In addition to selling cars and raising awareness, Gomez participates in a company-wide call every morning. On these calls, employees from Action Auto’s five locations brainstorm ways to bring in new customers and improve their inventory through repairs and aesthetic touch-ups.
Gomez said these calls are one element of Action Auto’s positive working environment.
“Action Auto has a great working atmosphere, and everyone gets along well. I feel like I belong here,” Gomez said. “Our leadership is appreciative of what we do for the company.”
He also loves his team at Action Auto Tupelo and considers his co-workers on the lot his family.
“Charles King, Miss Klaire Stafford and I at the Tupelo lot, have worked together for years at Action Auto and just fit together,” Gomez said. “We try to do the best we can to better our business.”
In addition to his work, Gomez’s other passion is getting out on the lake and fishing, especially for bass and crappie. Fishing also gives him a chance to break out his cooking skills—turning whatever he catches into a delicious meal.

Action Auto's Decatur location recently celebrated its one-year anniversary since opening in November of 2021.
In its first year serving the Decatur community, the lot has seen tremendous growth as our team strives to find quality, affordable car options that meet customers' needs.
"I firmly believe that we provide a service for people that others do not." said Sales Manager Eric Wise. "We are providing our customers with value that they can afford, but also that they are comfortable with. The ease with which we do the deals with the customers, we have got it down to a science. The payments are affordable, and it works for the customers. We are putting our trust in them and they are putting their trust in us."
Wise joined the team in May and was quickly enthralled by the team-first, family-oriented culture Action Auto Decatur has cultivated since opening.
"We work as a team," Wise said. "You may have a title, but we are all going to do the work needed to help one another and help make the lot as successful as it can be. No one is bigger than the team here. We are doing it for the store. We don't have individual goals; we have store goals. It is a family dynamic."
He thinks it is an environment that makes it easy to be the best version of yourself, which in turn helps the team better serve customers as they strive to help the Decatur community find reliable transportation options within their budget. The car-buying process can be stressful, the caring, customer-centric the Decatur team provides to customers makes the process seamless and builds a level of trust while providing an essential service.
"I want people to come in and feel like we are here to help them," Wise said. "We try to make the process as personal as possible. If you come into our store, we are going to talk. We let all of our customers know that if they ever need anything, we are here to help, even once they buy a car."
The Action Auto Decatur team is thrilled with the growth that came in their first year and is excited to continue to grow into next year and beyond as they aim to continue to serve the community.
"The growth we've seen has been great. We take great pride in helping our many customers in Decatur," Wise said. We feel like we are ready to take it to the next level."
Amanda Jones loves to see customers get behind the wheel.
Starkville native Amanda Jones first joined on at Action Auto two years ago, working as a sales associate in Columbus, Miss. After only a year, the company presented Amanda with the opportunity to move to Florence and open the newest location for the growing company.
“I’m grateful to be in the position I am in today,” Jones said. “When I was asked to open the lot here in Florence, I jumped at the opportunity.” Amanda went on to detail how much the company has cared for her since she started, stating that they are as committed to their team as they are to each customer. “Everyone on our team feels cared for, which directly translates to success on the lot.”
When Jones gets to work every day, she checks inventory to ensure accuracy. She also connects with customers that submitted online credit applications to capitalize on leads. In addition to her responsibilities as lot manager, Amanda facilitates outreach with area businesses, increasing awareness and business for the dealership.
“It’s important that customers know what we’re all about,” she said. “We want to help people that may have been turned down by other dealerships, assuring them that we can find a solution that ends in them driving away happy.”
After spending more than a year in Florence, Amanda has grown fond of the community. “I absolutely love Florence. I’m so blessed to be able to work with so many great people around town.”
Action Auto is the best used auto sales lot in Oxford, Miss., according to the 2022 Best of Oxford list, an annual community poll organized by The Oxford Eagle that recognizes the area’s favorite businesses, restaurants, services and places.
The Buy Here, Pay Here dealership, which provides individuals access to vehicles regardless of their financial situations, has been serving the community since May of 2016 and has sold more than 1,300 cars to local customers.
“We are so incredibly thankful to the people of Oxford for this recognition,” said Oxford lot manager Jolynn Medina of the award, which was announced in the July/August issue of Oxford Magazine. “Everyone has put in a great deal of work to put ourselves in this position, but we would not be here without our amazing customers.”

Putting a smile on each client’s face is what keeps this Action Auto leader motivated.
As the top salesman at Action Auto’s Columbus location, Trevor Taylor has seen first-hand the positive, life-changing impact that his line of work has on those in his community.
“In our business, we work with people that come to us as their last hope,” he says. “Everybody has turned them down, and I can reassure them that it’s not a problem. We always guarantee approval.”
Giving someone the power to get to work, drop their kids off at school, or drive to the grocery store is an empowering experience, one that Taylor is passionate about.
“It feels good to see our clients smile and be so happy. Having a vehicle is important for day-to-day life, and it is rewarding to help someone get that access despite their financial hardships,” Taylor says.
When Taylor isn’t making a sale, he’s normally occupied as the store’s sales manager, which entails keeping up to date with the daily activities of the lot. Taylor is responsible for logging calls, following up with appointments and ensuring each vehicle is accounted for and clean.
“The small details help each client feel cared for and reassured while they make a big decision,” he says.
Taylor’s commitment to changing people’s lives doesn’t end at just the lot. He is active with his home church in Starkville and has set up an Action Auto sponsorship for a local little league team, which has been extremely rewarding for Trevor in his commitment to giving back and being involved with his community.
Aside from car sales and community involvement, Taylor enjoys spending time outdoors in his hometown of Starkville, Miss., with his 10-year-old daughter, Skylar. Skylar was born on St. Patrick’s Day and Taylor considers her his lucky charm.
